The burn ban has been lifted.  Open burning is allowed.  All burning requires a burn permit and regulations must be followed.

Per the Governor's orders to minimize the spread of COVID-19, the
township office is closed until June 18The township departments continue to monitor their email and phone messages. We encourage residents to use the drop box, leave phone messages, use email, and our website to download forms.  The drop box is located by the front entrance and is secure; it may be used to drop off payments, absentee apps and ballots, request burn permits, land use permits, etc.

Township Board and Planning Commission meetings will be held electronically via Zoom.  The public is invited to attend these meetings and details will be posted.

Let's take this time off to practice gratitude, kindness and help keep everyone safe and healthy.

Tyrone Historical Society

The Historical Society supervises and maintains historical information and artifacts.  Anyone interested in viewing information or becoming involved in the history of the community is welcome.  The Society meets the third Monday in the months of January, March, May, July, September, and November at the township hall.  If you'd like more information, please call one of the members listed below.

Meetings begin a 6:00 pm. in the meeting room of Tyrone Township hall.  A potluck dinner is served and everyone is invited and welcomed!  Please bring a dish to pass and your own place setting/dinnerware (we don't do dishes!).

This 143-page book is an interesting historical account of Tyrone Township and the families who lived here from 1834-1976.  Written by township residents and published by the Historical Society, this book has lots of historical photographs. Black and white, 143 pages. The book may be purchased at the Tyrone Township Hall for $15.00.  (Include $7.75 for postage; however, due to township accounting practices, the check for postage must be separate.)
