Please submit the Master Plan survey online or return to Planning & Zoning at the township.  The deadline has been extended to Monday, August 15, 2022.

The Planning Commission is working on the township's Master Plan and would like input from you. Postcards were mailed out to each residence and includes a required Survey ID number. If you do not know the required ID number, you must contact Planning & Zoning at the township hall (810) 629-8631 to receive the number. Access the Master Plan survey here. VISIONING SESSION DATES & DETAILS

Visioning sessions are opportunities for residents to share their vision and opinions about the future of our Township. Topics may include commercial development, residential development, public works, traffic and roads, infrastructure, parks, and recreation, and more. It’s critical to have as much community participation as possible so that the Master Plan truly reflects the vision of the residents.

All visioning sessions will be led by the Tyrone Township Planning Commission and will take place at the Tyrone Township Hall, 8420 Runyan Lake Road, Fenton.

Because the survey deadline has been extended, this session has been canceled. The new date will be posted when determined.

 HOW TO FULLY PARTICIPATE IN MASTER PLANNING

1.     Fill out your survey and return it by the end of July August 15, 2022.

2.     Make arrangements to attend every possible visioning session.

3.     Visit the Master Plan website often to see if there are updates.

4.     Tell your neighbors, friends, and relatives about how they can participate. Help them be successful participants.

Tyrone Township is looking for individuals to work the polls at the November 8, 2022 State General elections. Election inspectors duties include managing the polls, issuing ballots, and assisting voters. If interested, please fill out this election inspector application and return to Clerk Pam Moughler. Applications may be returned by mail, in person, or email clerk@tyronetownship.us. 

Tyrone Township is a Passport Acceptance Facility with photos available on site for $10. Customers do NOT need to be a resident of the township; anyone is welcome. Applications are accepted Monday-Thursday 9:00 am - 4:30 pm. BY APPOINTMENT. Click here for more information.

Adult passports may be able to be renewed by mail without appearing at a facility.

Tyrone Township residents must follow the State of Michigan's firework law. Please be considerate to others and understand that fireworks can be distressing to neighbors and animals. State law requires that fireworks must be allowed on the following days, after 11:00 a.m.:

• December 31 until 1:00 a.m. on January 1
• The Saturday and Sunday before Memorial Day, until 11:45 p.m.
• June 29 to July 4, until 11:45 p.m.
• July 5, if it falls on a Friday or Saturday, until 11:45 p.m.
• The Saturday and Sunday before Labor Day, until 11:45 p.m.

Livingston County's Household Hazardous Waste, Electronic Waste Collections, and Tire Recycling events have been scheduled for the 2022 year. Events are posted on their website. Subscribe to receive email notifications of these future events.

Starting December 1, 2021 Burn Permits are no longer required.  Residents who open burn must still follow the Open Burning Ordinance.  Non-compliance may result in a fine OR a fire service charge of $1481.00.  Burning is NOT allowed when wind speeds are 9 mph or more.

The State of Michigan has launched a program for Michigan homeowners experiencing hardships due to the coronavirus pandemic by providing funds to prevent homeowner mortgage delinquencies, defaults, foreclosure, loss of utilities or home energy services.  For further information or to apply, visit the Michigan Homeowner Assistance Fund (MIHAF) page.

If you are age 60 or over and live in the Fenton or Linden School District, you qualify for the Mott Community College Senior Gold Card Scholarship. The course tuition is FREE, excluding supplies. Our annual Christmas food collections have been so successful, thanks to the generosity of our residents, that we've decided to try to be a year-round collection site for Gleaners Food Bank and the Pet Pantry. Nonperishable food items for humans AND pets may be donated at the township hall. Collection bins are located in the front lobby. Donations are greatly appreciated and help feed hungry people and pets. The Pet Pantry also accepts pet-related items.

The survey to gauge interest in relocating the historic town house has been completed. The results were tallied by the township's planner Zach Michels of Carlisle & Wortman. Read the report here. 

A Real ID is a standard driver's license or state ID card that is marked with a star in the upper right corner.  Effective May 3, 2023 Michigan residents will be required to have a Real ID, enhanced driver's license, or passport to travel BY AIR within the United States.  You can make your driver's license (or state ID) Real ID-compliant at a Secretary of State office (not the township office) and showing the required documents.  More information here.

Residents often call the township asking what can be done with road kill.  The township, the road commission, and the DNR do not provide such a service. The DNR recommends the following if residents encounter road-killed animals on or near their property: 1) Bag up the carcass and leave it with their trash for pick-up, 2) Move the carcass to an area where decomposition can take care of it (ditch, woods, buried underground, etc.), or 3) Hire a waste control company to remove the carcass.

Several places offer locations to safely dispose unused medications. Check locations in Livingston County or in Genesee County.

Tyrone Township's ISO (Insurance Service Organization) Public Protection Classifications rating was updated this year. Effective Nov. 1, 2018, the area serviced by the City of Fenton Fire Department (previously ISO 6) has been upgraded to ISO 5. These ratings may provide a significant reduction in your homeowner's insurance premium. We encourage you to contact your insurance company to see if this will affect you! Livingston County owns and maintains roads within the township unless private. Please understand they do the best they can on the budget they have. If you have complaints regarding the conditions of the roads, potholes, or mailboxes, please call the Livingston County Road Commission directly at 517-546-4250. More information about the Road Commission can be found here.  

The Road Commission is not responsible for damaged mailboxes from snow thrown from trucks. However, if damage has occurred from direct contact with a road commission snow removal equipment, a supervisor will assess the situation.  

The Road Commission does not pick up or dispose of animal carcasses on the roadways.

When property fraud happens it is not generally detected until years later and trying to track down the offenders is a very difficult task because they are long gone. Livingston County's Register of Deeds provides a free service to all land owners in Livingston County. The service, Property Fraud Alert (PFA) notifies you via email or phone number when a document is recorded at the Register of Deeds with your name on it. To participate in this free service go to the Register of Deeds webpage and click on the "Property Fraud Alert" link to sign up.

It has come to our attention that a large number of vehicle registrations are improperly assigned to Genesee County, NOT Livingston. This means the township is losing 42 cents on every dollar that you pay for your license plates to Genesee County instead of being available to fix our roads. Please check your vehicle registration to make sure it is properly assigned to Livingston County when renewing plates at the Secretary of State or online. If it is incorrect, call the Secretary of State's office at 888-767-6424 and keep your money in your county.
